Hi there internet surfers! It's been a minute since the last news update here --- so I understand if you have stopped regularly checking out of despair. But, if you have kept coming back --- or if you are a new comer to danloomismusic.com -- welcome!
The hiatus in news-giving has not been due to a lack of news but indeed, I have been so busy there has been little time to actually report it! At the moment, I am on tour... which has actually given me a little time to catch up!
THE DLQ -- is currently featured on The Jazz Session with Jason Crane. Stop by and check it out at www.thejazzsession.com. Jason is good friend of the group's from our time up in the frozen north of Rochester, New York. He was around Eastman School of Music at the same time Jared, Eli and I were. He came by our trailer after our gig at the Albany Jazz Festival and did a great interview.
THE WEE TRIO has been busy!!! We have just returned from a great Midwest tour which included gigs at Snug Harbor in New Orleans, a weekend run at The Bistro in St. Louis and a stop in jazzy old Kansas City at Jardines (a true jazz club). And we're nearing completion on the post-production of Capitol Diner Vol.2, Animal Style! Look for it soon.
SPOKE just completed our annual fall tour of the Northeast. We beat the odds and actually had an audience at our performance in Philadelphia despite our being in direct competition with Game One of the World Series between the Phillies and Yankees! After a few great concerts in Northern Maine (yes, that is really as far away as it sounds) we came back to do a great show at the Tea Lounge. Fortunately, this gig was recorded and will make up much of what will (with any luck/funding) soon become a Spoke live album.
CANADA! -- currently I am on a two-week tour with the great Canadian drummer, Ernesto Cervini, to support the release of his new album. Joining my on the the tour is Joel Frahm (on the finest tenor players in the world) and Adrean Farrugia (one of the elite of the Toronto jazz scene). We'll be traveling all over Western Canada, stopping in Saskatoon, Vancouver, Edmonton and many towns along the way.
