It's spring and things are on the move here at dan-loomis-music.
For starters.... I'm on the move -- The Wee Trio is going to the Midwest! Check it out:
- The Wee Trio -- Heartland Tour '09
- Thurs 4/09 - Holmes Lounge, Washington University, Saint Louis
- Friday 4/10 - Jardines, Kansas City
- Saturday 4/11 - Marbles, Saint Louis
- Spoke!! ---- and if that's not enough..... Spoke is on the move (a bit more metaphorically). Everyone's favorite band, Spoke, has at long last released our debut album... the self-titled Spoke. Get your very own copy while they're hot. Available for your pleasure on Cd Baby.
Lot's of great music happening later this month too --
- I'm very excited for the debut of a brand-new quartet. The parisian violist, Frantz Loriot, has assembled a ferocious quartet of musicians - Jeff Davis on drums, Michael Attias on saxophones -- under the portentious title of the SAT quartet. We'll play at Dakar on April 14th.
- Don't miss Rob Mosher's Quartet at Spike Hill on April 20th ... Rob's my new favorite composer and he's put together one of the best bands in New York. Check out his great album The Tortoise.
- Tucksy will finally release our debut album Let's Start the Show at Cornelia Street Cafe on April 24th. Although it's CD release.... we've been working loads of new music. If I can get off my ass the write the bluegrass sonata for vibraphone, percussion, banjo and cello that I've been planning.... I'm hoping to premiere it at this gig!
- I'll join the Tim Collins String Ensemble at the Chi Art Gallery on April 16th. Tim has defintiely found a unique and driving voice in his writing for string quartet. Don't miss this concert as it will be one of Tim's last before he moves to Austria later this year!
- I'm excited to be rejoining the Jay Collins Trio at Jules Bistro on April 15th. Jay leads one of the swinging-est jazz sets I've had the privelege of being a part of. And he's got a keen ear for finding the best of the Ray Charles repertoire to sing.
- And finally --- I'm headed the south again with the Trachy/Lacy Quartet. On April 26th we'll be featured on the Joyner Spring Concert Series in Wake Forest, North Carolina.
